Women In Sport Summit
Women In Sport Wrap Up
This year's Women In Sport Summit on the Gold Coast was one for the books, as founder Natalie Cook OLY took to the main stage to publicly announce Green & Gold Athletes' ambitious vision - and the open date of our first round on sponsorship applications.
Drawing from her personal journey, Nat courageously shared her own story of being $300,000 in debt with no superannuation after retiring from five Olympic Games. Determined to make a change, she sought to address the financial challenges faced by young athletes striving to represent their country on the international stage.
Collaborating with students from Brisbane Grammar and Brisbane Girls Grammar, Nat workshopped innovative ideas to find sustainable financial support for these aspiring athletes. The students boldly presented their solutions, highlighting the commitment of the younger generation to creating positive change in the world of sports.
The Women In Sport Summit was further enriched by the presence of esteemed Olympians, including Jessica Smith, Curtis McGrath, Duncan Free, Rachel Lynch, and Juliet Haslan. These accomplished athletes joined forces with Green and Gold Athletes, pledging their support and standing united with us in our mission to empower aspiring elite young athletes.
As part of our commitment to advancing women in sports, Green and Gold Athletes introduced the #150Women campaign. This ambitious initiative aims to unite 150 generous Aussie women, each contributing $150 to raise funds for female athletes pursuing their dreams.
The Ministry of Sport (MOS) then presented Green & Gold Athletes a $10,000 cheque, that will go straight to funding our athletes on their path to representing Australia,
Through our participation at the Women In Sport Summit, Green and Gold Athletes demonstrated our unwavering dedication to creating a legacy of sporting excellence, by providing essential support, including financial assistance, mentoring, and educational opportunities, for aspiring elite athletes..
